Some owners clean a car. Others prepare one.
Mr Marsh from North Yorkshire belongs firmly in the second camp. He takes enormous pride in his GT Silver Metallic Porsche 911 GT3 with Touring Package and has presented the car at a number of concours events organised by regional branches of Porsche Club Great Britain.
That is a demanding environment for any car. Under open skies and close inspection, every panel, reflection and overlooked edge is invited to tell its own story. Fortunately, this particular 992 appears to enjoy the attention.
Motorsport beneath an individual silhouette
The 992 GT3 Touring is a wonderfully Porsche-like contradiction: a road car carrying serious motorsport engineering, presented with a more restrained starting point than the conventionally winged GT3.
Its naturally aspirated 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine produces 510 PS and is based upon the unit used in the 911 GT3 R. In standard form, the Touring Package removes the GT3’s prominent fixed rear wing in favour of a cleaner rear treatment and an automatically extending spoiler.
Mr Marsh has given that factory Touring shape a more individual edge by fitting an custom-sourced ducktail. Its identity may be more discreet than the standard GT3 wing, but it brings a deliberate nod to classic 911 design and gives the rear profile considerably more character. Combined with the wide body, deep front apertures, centre-lock wheels, contrasting black details and Porsche side graphics, it creates a particularly effective balance between elegance and aggression.
GT Silver under the concours spotlight
Silver paint is sometimes dismissed as the safe choice. GT Silver proves how lazy that judgement can be.
Across the sculpted panels of a 992, the colour changes constantly. In direct sunlight it becomes bright and sharply metallic; beneath softer skies it takes on deeper pewter tones, allowing the shoulders, door contours and rear haunches to become more pronounced. A properly prepared finish gives the metallic flake clarity without making the surface look artificial.

Carnauba warmth with crystal-coating protection
Our specially developed soft-paste formula combines carnauba wax with crystal-coating protection. Applied by hand and buffed after hazing, it creates the deep, lustrous glaze associated with a traditional carnauba finish while leaving a harder protective shell over the paintwork.
The wax can help disguise light swirls and minor surface imperfections, enrich dull or tired paint and protect the finished surface for up to three months. On a carefully maintained metallic colour such as GT Silver, its real strength is the additional depth and definition it gives to reflected light—exactly what matters when a car is being presented for close inspection.
Concours judges are not interested in the promises printed on a tin. They judge the finish in front of them. That makes Mr Marsh’s continued use of the product far more meaningful to us than any studio photograph or polished advertising slogan.
Pride in preparation
Concours preparation is measured in hours and judged in details. It demands patience, consistency and the willingness to revisit an area most people would already consider immaculate. The final result may appear effortless on the show field, but it rarely arrived there by accident.
